About

Mash.ie rewards teachers for sharing.  On the one hand, it’s a one stop shop for teachers who want help and resources when planning thematically.  On the other, it allows teachers the chance to win great prizes for sharing ideas with others. We’ve teamed up with some of the biggest names in primary education to offer prizes such as digital cameras, books, subscriptions and more.

Mash Points

Every time you visit Mash.ie, you earn points.  You also earn points when you comment on the resources.  However, the big points are earned when you share resources on the site.  You can add images, links, documents and even recipes!

Prizes

We are working with some of Ireland’s biggest educational companies to offer Mash users prizes for sharing.  These prizes can be anything from sets of books to digital cameras.  To win a prize, you’ll need to earn a certain number of points before a certain date.  Anyone who reaches the set points goes into a draw.  A winner is then selected at random.

Example

For example, let’s say a company called EduResources gives us a €500 voucher for its products.  We will set a target number of points to reach, perhaps 500 points.  We will also set how many points you get for each resource, for example, 20 points for an image, 30 points for a lesson plan, etc.  We will also set a target date, for example 4 weeks.  Anyone who reaches 500 points within the time limit gets entered into a draw.  The winner is selected at random and is notified by email.  It is the winner’s responsibility to respond and generally we will set a time limit for this.  If the prize isn’t claimed, we’ll draw again.

What do companies get out of this?

They get to promote their product on at least this web site and on Anseo.net.  Between the two sites, over 1.5 million hits are registered every year.  During the promotion, they have an advertising space on both web sites stating their company name and the prize on offer.  They also can add a link to their own web site. Anyone running a web site can display the current competition on their web site too through a badge.  On a more permanent level, we will display every company who has ever supported us on our prize page with a link to their web site.  We also hope that Mash users will support the companies offering prizes.

What do we at Mash.ie get out of this?

We are teachers so we get access to resources from other Irish teachers.  As educators, we get the shiny feeling that we are encouraging teachers to share their resources with others and break down the walls of classrooms.  Financially, we potentially receive nothing.  However, we do ask companies to offer us a voluntary contribution of some sort for hosting the competition and displaying their advertisement.  Mash.ie isn’t free to run so we need to keep it going. If we get a few extra Euro for something nice, we won’t complain either!

Getting Started

If you’re a teacher, simply register and start adding resources and earning points.  If you’re a company, drop us a line to rozz@anseo.net or simon@anseo.net and we’d love to talk to you.
