On the 6th September, the Soviet Union recognised the independence of the Baltic states: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. While all children in your school will not have lived through this occasion, it could trigger some discussion around the theme of independence, be it Irish Independence in history or the concept of individual independence in SPHE or Learn Together. You can even turn the theme on its head and discuss dependence.
